10 Life and Skin Secrets Every 30-Something Girl Needs to Know
As a woman in her late thirties I have finally come to the realisation “I may” have been just a little too flippant with my approach to skincare and ageing. With this sudden realisation I went on a hunt for what I believe to be the top 10 life and skin secrets that EVERY woman over the age of 30 needs to know!
1: Take It Off: Make sure you remove all your makeup religiously at night! We all know it needs to be done but so many of us get a little lazy. Once you
hit the big 3 – 0 it’s no longer a luxury we can afford.
2: Exfoliate Your Skin: Experts cannot stress enough on the importance of exfoliating your skin. Dead skin cells need to be GENTLY removed to reveal the new soft and supple skin below. It is recommended by most experts to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week.
3: Quality Skincare: Use a high quality moisturiser, every night so that your skin can rehydrated and renew while you sleep.
My all time favourite brand of skincare is Osmosis!! I have become an addict to the whole range. Quench is their intense moisturiser that is lightweight and quick absorbing. I can highly recommend giving their products a try if you get the chance.
4: Don’t Believe All Beauty Labels: Some beauty labels actually display false information, so don’t believe everything you read. If a product promises instant results or all-day protection, it may be too good to be true.
5: Take Your Vitamin C’s: A healthy diet consisting of citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, mangoes, kiwis, broccoli and even tomatoes or capsicum can boost up the vitamin C intake in your diet and this will help your skin from the inside out.
6: Exercise: Walk for 30 minutes or just hit the gym. Indulging in some regular exercise will not only cleanse your skin but will also nourish your blood cells. This also helps to flush out the waste products from your skin. Being healthy and fit = beautiful skin naturally.
7: Give yourself a break: Studies show that stress causes physical changes in the body that can accelerate ageing!!! Surges of the hormones adrenaline and cortisol cause blood pressure to rise and the heart to beat faster.
8: Eat more Salmon; One of the highest concentrations of omega 3 fatty acids is found in salmon and these healthy fats have been linked to protecting the skin against sun exposure.
9: Meditate: learning to meditate and be at one with yourself helps relax your mind body and soul! Surely a relaxed body causes a relaxed face so a win win for everyone.
10: Less Is More: Too much make-up, especially the wrong kind of makeup as we age, can make us look worse rather than better.
Try to accentuate your natural features and steer clear of over doing anything. As the saying goes … Less is more.
